Way to go, CWF!!Read below for more details about the award:The Dayton Foundation Awards Five Awards for Excellence in Community Leadership (July 6, 2021) The Dayton Foundation is pleased to announce the 2021 recipients of the Award for Excellence in Community Leadership. The award recognizes community groups that have established committee-advised funds through The Dayton Foundation and that are affecting change by demonstrating best practices for community organizing, fundraising, collaboration and strategic planning. Recipients of the 2021 awards each received $500. They are: Centerville-Washington Foundation, a Dayton Foundation component fund group since 1998, moved quickly during the pandemic to award emergency grants to Food2Go and Shoes 4 the Shoeless;Dayton Public Schools Foundation, a Dayton Foundation fund since 2015, provided responsive grantmaking that included funding for Bluetooth headphones that were necessary for teachers to carry out virtual learning during the pandemic;Kettering Education Foundation, a fund since 1993, made strides in developing engaging marketing materials, surveying teachers and providing teacher grants;MercyPets Fund, a fund since 2017, extended its nutritional support to the community by including newborn children and toddlers. This past year MercyPets provided food assistance to nearly 2,400 children and 208 infants; andOakwood Schools Foundation, a component fund group since 2007, secured additional funding this past year to install air purifiers in every classroom in the district’s five schools.“Each group’s efforts, especially during a year filled with special challenges, are worth recognizing for their impact and the deep relationships they’ve cultivated with stakeholders and the community at large,” said Lucy Baker, donor relations officer for The Dayton Foundation. “A sincere thanks to each recipient for leading the way and serving as a model and resource to other Dayton Foundation component funds.” The deadline to submit a nomination for the 2021 awards program is February 28, 2022. Any member of the community or advisor to a Dayton Foundation component fund may nominate a Dayton Foundation fund for this award.
